What We Do
With Your Details

The short version

  • Browsing the shop needs nothing from you. No account, no email, no name.
  • Ordering needs the things an order needs, and your card never touches our servers.
  • We do not sell your details. There is no ad network and no tracking pixel here.

Who am I dealing with?

Terrain Ducks is run by Ferrand Industries LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Anything about your information goes to [email protected], or by mail to Terrain Ducks, PO Box 2, Darlington, SC 29540.

What do you collect when I order?

The things an order needs and nothing extra: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, what you bought and the total. If you leave a note at checkout we keep that too, because it usually matters.

What about when I am just browsing?

The web server keeps a routine access log of page requests, times and IP addresses. Google Analytics also runs here and reports visit counts and which pages get read. Turning it off is the next question.

Who else ends up with my details?

Six, named rather than described as trusted partners.

WooPayments & StripeHandle the card. Your card number goes to them and never to us. We get a confirmation, the last four digits and the brand.
WooCommerce ShippingRun by Automattic. Calculates rates and prints labels, so your shipping address passes through them.
Google AnalyticsVisit data only. Not your name, not your order, not your message.
Google reCAPTCHAChecks that a form is being filled in by a person rather than a bot. It runs the invisible version, which means it watches how you move through a page with a form on it and scores that behavior, rather than showing you a puzzle. Google sees your IP address and browser details in the process.
Google FontsServes the typefaces on this site, which means Google sees your IP address when a page loads.
NamecheapRuns the servers this site and its email sit on.

Nobody buys your details from us, because we do not sell them.

How do I turn the analytics off?

Right here, in one click. The first time you arrive, a small notice asks whether we may count your visit, and Google Analytics stores nothing on your device unless you choose Accept. Choosing No thanks is a real no, and we remember either answer for twelve months so we are not asking on every visit.

Changed your mind?

If you would rather switch it off everywhere you go rather than just here, install Google’s opt-out add-on or turn on tracker blocking in your browser.

Do you email me?

Only if you asked. Order confirmations and shipping updates come with the order itself. Anything else is the mailing list, which you join deliberately and can leave from the link at the bottom of any email. Our mailing list software runs on this website rather than at an outside marketing company, so your address stays with us.

Is any of this AI?

Some of the writing on this site was drafted with AI help and edited by a person before publishing. Where a product image is AI generated rather than photographed, it is labelled on the page it appears on.

Your side of it is untouched. Nothing you send through a form, an order or the mailing list is fed into an AI service, and no automated system makes decisions about you or your order.

Does anything renew automatically?

Not today. Everything currently in the shop is a one-off purchase, and there is no subscription you can buy yet. The Duck Drop monthly box is announced but not open.

When it opens, three things are true from the first day it is offered, and you can hold us to them:

Before you payThe price, the interval and how to cancel are shown at checkout, not buried in a terms page.
Seven days aheadA reminder email arrives before every renewal, saying what is about to be charged and when.
CancelingA link in your account that works immediately. You will never have to email us to stop a payment.

How long do you keep it?

7 yrsOrder records, because tax rules expect it
2 yrsMessages sent through a form
Until you goMailing list, plus a note of the unsubscribe
WeeksServer logs, then overwritten

Can I see it, fix it, or have it deleted?

Yes to all three. Email [email protected]. You do not have to give a reason and we answer within thirty days. One honest caveat: a completed order record has to survive the tax period above even if you close your account, and if that applies we will tell you exactly what is kept and why.

Children

This is a shop for adults with a credit card. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

If this page changes

The date at the top changes with it. If a new company starts receiving your details, that gets written here plainly instead of quietly edited in.

Still have a question?Ask a person. We would rather answer it than have you guess from a legal page.

Quick one. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. Nothing is stored on your device until you say yes.
